P.H. Woolsey

Let me share my notes with you concerning Philip Henry Woolsey. Around 1864, P.H. went into a co-partnership arrangement with Henry R. Low to manufacture lumber. The mills that they used were located on the William Parks' place and on the Peter Millspaugh place. Perhaps the term "Mills' Place" is in reference to the Millspaugh mill. From these locations, large quantities of lumber were rafted down to the Delaware River. With the building of the railroad, it became more economical, and safer, to send the lumber by rail.

Amy's obituary puts the date of the Woolseys moving to the village to around 1875. This date does roughly coincide with the completion of the railroad.
