Gleason, class president who formally presented the class gift to the
school of ten flowering crabapple trees plus $100 for school awards to
be used over the next ten years. After the graduation his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Gleason were hosts at a party in his honor attended by
many relatives from Long Island and the Manor. Prior to the graduation,
Brian’s parents hosted a dinner for him at the Lake Rest Hotel. Brian
received many presents, but the nicest part of the evening was when
Brian gave a gift to the parents, an air conditioner, for their many
kindness to him over the years. At the present time Brian is working for
Edward Turk, a Manor contractor.”

denotes a real honor to the group’s members.
“While at Livingston major Central School Thomas was an eight year
member of the concert band and was selected to perform with sefe4ral
select all county and area All-State groups.

Mr. Menges. He is in his freshman year at Cornell.”

of Udorn Roval Thai AFB, Thailand that has earned the Presidential Unit
citation for a second time.
“The wing was cited for its distinguished aerial action against hostile
forces in Southeast Asia from November 2, 1968 to October 31, 1969. The
award is the highest U S honor accorded a military organization.
“The 432nd, equipped with F-4 Phantoms and C-130 Hercules
aircraft, is the only wing in the USAF to have a reconnaissance fighter,
command and control mission. The unit’s unarmed Phantom reconnaissance

“The Livingston Manor Fire Department’s Softball team has been will into
another season of hits, runs, errors – everything having to do with the
good old American sport of base, well…softball. The twelve member team
has developed quite an impressive record. To follow are the statistics
for each player.
“Bob Johanman plays third base on the team. He is possibly the best
third basemen in the league. Bob has a good eye at the plate and has
officially been at bat 36 times with 11 hits, 7 walks, 2 doubles and 1
triple. Bob has a batting average of .306’
“Terry Wolcott, one of the co-captains of the team, is a short fielder
but can play most any position on the field aggressively. Terry’s been
at bat 32 times with a batting average of .281 He’s had 9 hits and 1
walk….
“Charlie Schleiermacher, catcher for the team, has caught every inning
of every game this season. He’s a strong batter with one of the highest
averages of .429. He’s been at bat 35 times with 15 hits, 2 walks and 3
doubles…”

“Mrs. Shirley Weigand and her son Jesse Reed flew back Thursday after
spending ten days with her sister Gail Clark Friedman of San Jose, Ca.
Gail and her son, Scott, flew back home with her sister Shirley while
Gail’s husband Jack Friedman drove his motorcycle here. The Freidman’s
will visit her parents Mr. and Mar. Cecil Clark in the Manor and his
parents the Jack Friedman’s in Harris.”

“Members of the parents club have undertaken a project to renovate the
playground at Livingston Manor Central School. With the approval of
school officials, renovations will begin May 4 when the grounds will be
aerated and on May 5, seeded. Terry Wolcott, chairman of the playground
committee would appreciate the help of volunteers to do the seeding.” |
