“Both Mr. and Mrs. Neer attended Livingston Manor Central School. Pfc Neer is a motor pool clerk in the 5th Infantry at Fort Carson, Colorado. They reside at Colorado Springs.”

“Two Livingston Manor teenagers were injured in a one car automobile accident which occurred at 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
“According to Ferndale State Police who investigated the mishap, a 1955 Chevrolet driven by Duane Hodge17, of Livingston Manor was traveling north on the Back Shandelee Road about one mile north of the village and as the vehicle was making a left turn the driver failed to negotiate the turn. The car struck a utility pole. Taken to Roscoe Community Hospital were Allen Levine, 17 and Robert Striffler, 15, both of Livingston Manor. Levine suffered lacerations to the right eye and Striffler had lacerations of the right arm.”

A party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilbur in honor of her graduation. Chauncey left Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Rydouski to visit his other two sisters, Lettie and Bonnie who were unable to attend the festivities. From there he will go to Bricktown to visit his brother Kenneth and family. .After July 7, Chauncey will return to service and be stationed on Long Island.”

“Paul is the first Manor graduate in recent years to audition for the Army Band School. Upon completion of basic training, he will attend a 20-week session at music school in Little Creek, Va., and will then be assigned to an army band.
“During his elementary and high school years, Paul played the trumpet, saxophone and baritone in the Concert Band

Following this period he will go to Little Creek, Va., to a music school for 20 weeks after which he will be placed in an Army band. He has received a music rating from West Point. On Wednesday evening of last week he was entertained at the home of Terry DeWitt with a farewell party at which 20 of his friends were present. A family dinner party was held at his home on Thursday evening at which time his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sherwood and Mrs. Harrison Marks of Youngsville were present.”

“Funeral services were held Sunday in Bronx, New York for Miss Leslie Jacobs, 21, of Livingston Manor, who was killed in an automobile accident early Saturday morning on the Loch Sheldrake Road, between Liberty and Loch Sheldrake.
“A 1967 graduate of the Livingston Manor Central School, the victim was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jacobs of Livingston Manor and was a student at Sullivan County Community College. She was formerly married to David [sic] Allen of Livingston Manor.
“According to state police who investigated the mishap she died in the wreckage of a car owned by her mother, Mrs. Martha Jacobs and driven by John Hanofee, 24 of Woodbourne.
“Hanofee is reported in critical condition at Horton Memorial Hospital, Middletown with multiple skull fractures and face injuries. He was transferred there from Community General Hospital, Liberty. Hanofee had to be pried from the wreckage by Liberty firemen and members of the Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
“Also injured in the two-car accident on Rt. 52, a half mile east of Infirmary Road, Town of Liberty were Lawrence Armstead, 24 of Monticello, who suffered fractured left arm and cuts of the chin. He is reported in fair condition. He was the operator of the second vehicle…

“Voters are dealing with a sense of confusion, anger and loss arising from the expulsion of district superintendent, Dr. Debra Lynker, alumna of LMCS, former teacher and high school principal and until recently, district superintendent.
