Livingston Manor Central School Basketball Reunion - July 18, 2008


Livingston Manor 1962 - The Manor Varsity basketball team breaks the New York State record for wins in a row with 42 straight league wins without a loss over a 3 season period from 1959 to 1962.


There was a reunion dinner in Livingston Manor, NY for members of the Varsity Basketball Team that set the State record in 1959 - 1962 and the Cheerleaders who supported them.

Coach Si Pesavento attended the reunion dinner and was honored by many of his players and fans of 46 years ago. Coach's family members who attended were: Jeannette Forester (fiancée), Richard, Sandy, Tina, Patricia, Linda as well as their spouses.

Barry Foster emceed the after-dinner events introducing the players and cheerleaders as well as many who came to the podium to recount their experiences and values learned from "Coach". 

The reunion was held at King's Catering in Livingston Manor on Friday July 18, 2008 with cocktails, dinner and entertainment starting at 6 PM. Dinner Details <click link for info>

Thank you for organizing a wonderful reunion. I enjoyed seeing all the guys and remembering old times.

Several others learned of the reunion too late and sent their best wishes to Coach: Mike Fisher, John Welch, Martin Schwartz and others.

Some of the speakers were: Arnold Robinson, Bill Vick, Rich Robinson, John Hoos, Harold Van Aken, Don Greenlee and coach's eldest son Richard Allen (wonder where he got those names from). All had many praises of their Experiences with "Coach"

The guest "speaker" was Ralph Kirchner who was a member of the Roscoe team that broke the Manor streak. He came prepared to get roasted and had his own share of roasting to do. He only wanted 2 minutes at the end to retaliate but gave an entertaining talk of his experiences that kept the crowd in laughs. Thanks Ralph 

At the end Coach Pesavento gave a talk recounting several games and some of his experiences with the past games, referees and players and his appreciation of us putting this together. A framed picture of Coach and the three teams was presented to remember the occasion.

Saturday was golf at Tenannah Lake Golf course where Coach worked summers with some of his payers caddying. Because of the heat, Coach didn't play but we did have 3 foursomes:

Team1:Charlie Banks, Harold Van Aken, Don Greenlee, Rich Welch

Team 2: Bill Vick, Linda Emery Vick, John Hoos, Bonnie Curry Hoos

Team 3: Charlie Smith, Andy Taggart, Steve Felter

Roscoe December 19, 1961 - The Streak Ends!!!!!!!!!


 


Though the Livingston Manor Central School basketball team had lost its first game in three years, the 1961-62 team still were the Western Sullivan League champions for that year, which was also the third consecutive league championship season for a Wildcat team. Trophies for this accomplishment were handed out to the team members during the 1962 Varsity Club banquet, as reported in the school's newspaper, The Centralian.
